Yashasvini Health Insurance Scheme 2024

The Yashasvini Health Insurance Scheme is a community-based medical insurance program for employees in Karnataka’s informal economy who earn between the middle and lower-middle income levels. S.M. Krishna, Karnataka’s former chief minister, established the Yeshasvini Health Insurance Scheme in 2003 to provide comprehensive coverage to farmers who are members of state cooperative organizations. The Department of Cooperatives implements this program in collaboration with the Government of Karnataka. It uses funds raised by cooperative societies through the Yeshasvini trust to provide rural unorganized workers with affordable access to necessary healthcare services. The Yeshasvini Cooperative Health Care Trust, which is registered under the Indian Trust Act of 1882, manages the program, which covers people in more than 30 districts of Karnataka.

Implementation Strategy for the Yeshasvini Health Insurance Scheme

When a beneficiary comes to one of the Network Hospitals, a coordinator checks the beneficiary’s UHID card, pays the enrollment fee, and approves the preliminary diagnosis. If surgery is required, MSP receives a pre-authorization request. The request is reviewed by experts. Subject to the established limitations, the beneficiary may receive cashless treatment for any surgery. The network hospitals forward the patient’s signed bill summary and other required paperwork to MSP for claims processing. The Yeshasvini Health Insurance Scheme Trust pays network hospitals via MSP within 45 days of receiving their invoices.
